It is what it is...

I have always hated when people tell me, “It is what it is.”

It always felt like someone was saying, “Suck it up and deal.”

But I have a new way of looking at life after this year of the pandemic.

I’ve learned how little we have control over.

How we can think:

  • we are doing everything right, and still get the virus

  • we are doing everything for our children, and they still drive us crazy

  • we can try so hard and still fail

  • we can do the best we can and still not win

We have control over almost zero parts of most of our days.

The day happens as it happens.

How we choose to think about what happens and what we make it mean is what matters most.

When you boil it down to that, why not just let most of our mind-drama go, and let it happen as it is going to happen.

It is what it is has an entirely new meaning for me.

What do you think about when you hear, “It is what it is?” Post a comment - I can’t wait to hear from you.
