I was with some friends this past weekend and we started listing all that we had experienced in the Pacific Northwest since March 2020…

  • Pandemic

  • Protests

  • Fires and the unbearable smoke

  • The election

  • January 6th

  • Massive ice storm

  • 115º in Portland? C’mon!

So so so much happened to all of us. Each item above is not the same in size or emotional impact, but it is a lot on top of each other. My additions to the above list:

  • My husband and I had COVID

  • 4+ weeks of a family of hawks taking over my backyard (not over yet)

  • Balancing full-time jobs with a 5-year-old at home

  • Not seeing family for almost 2 years

I have not felt more adult-like than in the last 16 months. So many decisions to make for myself and my family. Do we ever really know if we are making the right decision? All we can do is make the best decision for the moment and tweak as we go. Otherwise we are always in limbo.

Pat yourself on the back. We all deserve a moment of grace and the realization that we are all capable of more than we know.

If you need help please reach out to friends, family, colleagues, or a life coach! We all need someone to stop, listen and see us. If you do not have that, I’m here for you.

See you and be seen
