Embrace what is in front of you

Embracing what is right in front of you.

Today I had my coach mom hat on. We’ve finally landed on a school for my son who is starting first grade. It took a few weeks of visits, and communication with the different schools (and it is much more complicated when we are starting two months into the school year).

So today was our last extended summer day together since he left kindergarten last July.

I had all the feels.

I swung between moods of being excited for more adult space to think again to loving all the time I had with him and how hard it’s going to be to send him back to school — kind of like the first day of leaving him at daycare years ago.

Tears.

So we embraced this last day and just played all day and explored some new places together. I weaved in questions about being brave when starting at a new school when the other kids had already been in school. He is nervous and excited.

It was a good reminder to remember to embrace the moment and be present for what is right in front of you — otherwise you might miss some truly precious moments.

When you pause for a moment, is there an area that comes to thought that you would rather be more present for? A person, a project, or maybe even just yourself?

How can you pause and be more present?

I promise that when you do, it will feel different in your body and you will be grateful you embraced it and were more present.

Then do it again.
