I am going to be brutally honest (I usually am).

It has been hard this year to be present in life — yes, I know we are not even a month into 2021.

It has still been hard.

There has been so much happening in the world (politics, pandemic, and just normal family drama for me).

Sometimes it is easier to sleep, drink a lot, and bitch about why life sucks right now.

It doesn’t have to be that way.

I was chatting with a colleague this week about being present.

At times when things feel crazy, out of control, and just not fucking fair — that is when pausing and feeling more present is of utmost importance.

Do you think each day about how present you are? In your body? With your thoughts?

It is hard. It’s easier to worry, think about the what if’s, or check out of what is happening.

What if we spent less time doing that, and spent more time being present.

Breathing.

Letting our feelings happen.

Thinking of all the good right in front of us.

Being present in our body — what does it need?

I am trying.

It all starts with a breath, a thought, and then what we make it mean.

Are you trying? What do you think you need to be more present in your life each moment? Post a comment and let me know what you think.

I see you when you do not see yourself
