Let go of your heavy load

How often do we carry the load of others?

Carry the thoughts, concerns, and fears of our family, friends, or colleagues?

How is that weighing us down? How does it serve us and why do we do it?

We take on so much, so many burdens and (I am not exempt from this) why do we do it?

Do we think it will make us feel better?

Do we feel better about ourselves by doing it?

Or is it all we know?

I had burdens early when my mom was sick (when I was age 12-16). I did not have much of a life because my sister and I had to take care of her, which also meant bills, groceries, laundry, cleaning the house. We did not really have help.

So I learned early on that I could do it all. But why?

It meant I rarely asked for help.

Sometimes when we ask for help we think we are a burden, weak, or soft.

We aren’t.

We just think we are.

We are just who we are right now — burdens or no burdens.

What heavy load can you get rid of that you no longer need to carry? How would it feel to let it go?
