Make lemonade out of lemons

It was Spring Break for my son last week.

We had planned to go explore a few places along the South Carolina coast...

The universe had other plans for us.

My husband tested positive for Covid on Easter (thank you doctor's office for sharing the funk).

Trip cancelled.

My son was bummed.

The first thing I thought of to say to him was, "We get to make lemonade out of lemons."

Life throws us curveballs (or lemons) all the time -- and each time we get to learn how to manage through whatever it brings us.

My son was a trooper.

We built a new Star Wars Lego set, read books, did a 500 piece puzzle, played Nintendo, studied the family of green Anole lizards that live on our porch, watched the grey tree frog that slimed our front bench, made treats we usually only make on holidays, played games, and worked on a children's book we are writing together.

It was a week full of creativity, flexibility, and resilience.

While my husband was stuck with the lemons, my son and I made lemonade.

What in front of you looks like lemons, but really could be refreshing lemonade?

Spring Break Staycation Takeaways

1. When we are present and aware we can intentionally decide to make lemonade out of lemons.

2. Life throws curveballs -- we learn how to manage through it.

3. Take a moment to look at what lemons are in front of you and how you can make lemonade.

If you think damn this feels hard, schedule a consult with me, together we can look at the lemons in front of you and intentionally choose how to shift towards lemonade.

"There is more to life than this."
