Spoiler alert.
Balance doesn't exist.
After years of trying to find balance in my life, I've determined it is not possible.
The teeter totter of life usually doesn't weigh the same on both sides.
Work does not evenly mesh with your personal life. There are times when one is more the focus than the other.
That thing they call work/life balance is a bunch of BS.
So stop chasing what does not exist.
Instead, find out how to have more harmony in your life.
Decide that this week you might be putting in more hours at work for that big deadline, and maybe next week you don't work as much and you come home early for some special time with your significant other or your kids. You make them cookies, or you have a play-hooky-day.
Harmony means we are okay with how things are happening, that they might not all be equal all the time, but we have congruence and know that things are going to work well together.
Finding harmony is easier than you think.
It means not giving your all in all areas of your life. Being okay when you aren't always giving 100% at work and at life. You are in flow with what needs to happen, without shame or thinking you are dropping balls, or not pleasing others. You are agile and resilient with what curveballs are thrown your way, and how you react to what life brings to your door.
Like I always say, "You do YOU."
3 Takeaways:
Stop trying to do it all.
Determine how you want harmony to look in your life.
Take a deep breath, roll up your sleeves and decide today to find harmony, not the BS of balance.
