Do you ever feel like you are constantly in motion, but mostly going no where? I have felt that way for a good part of my life. Checking boxes for what I should do and thinking about what I could do — but the should’s and could’s never really brought me happiness.
We often try to control everything around us because of the fear that if we let go, our life will not happen as we want it. We think: controlling everything = get what we want. So we then do everything we can to keep everything moving forward, ready to make everything happen for everyone in our life, and eventually it takes a toll on us. We are stressed out, unhappy, unfulfilled, and sometimes just angry at the world. Why are things not happening the way we want them to happen?
My secret for you: Stop trying to control everything.
STOP worrying about everything being perfect and getting what you want. START by letting go of trying to get what you want and just let things happen around you. Your kid is not going to be perfect, let them be themselves. Your boss and coworkers have their own shit to figure out — it is not your problem. Your family is who they are — you will never be able to change them.
