Today, my son had the day off from school — so I took the day off.

I did not do anything extraordinary. I went to an appointment and ran a few errands. I took my son to the arcade.

It was a quiet day — but in all the quiet, I felt space.

Like I could breathe differently.

I was not rushing around, running late, trying to smash everything into an allotted period of time.

It is interesting to watch how we each handle the space around us. Do we fill it with Netflix, an iPhone game, a book? Are we literally filling every moment of our day?

Do we demand space for ourselves where we are intentional about having quiet moments to breathe, create awareness for our thoughts, and reflect on all we have around us?

Space for ourselves at times seems to be an extravagance and one we do not often allow to happen.

What if we were to shift that and make sure it was part of our daily routine?

Pause. Quiet. Space. Awareness. Reflection.

Try it. See if you breathe differently.
