How many of you have felt that there are barriers to getting what you want?
Is it because you do not know how to get there?
Or because of your gender or the color of your skin?
I am greatly saddened by the loss of Ruth Bader Ginsburg - how hard that was to hear, and also hard to hear how long that badass woman had to hold on and work to the final day of her life to keep democracy alive. I won’t go down that rabbit hole, but I do want to use her life as an example for all of you that think you can’t make that change in your life.
She was rejected after law school for a Supreme Court clerkship because she was a woman, she began her legal career as a law professor and pioneering advocate for women's legal rights.
Rejected.
The woman literally changed women’s lives. Just search all the things she did in her time as a Supreme Court Justice, but I for one am glad that I don’t HAVE to have a bank account with a male cosigner. I can have a mortgage without a man, and I can be pregnant, have kids and work. All of these sound so simple and legit and yet she fought for them. For all women. We cannot take that for granted.
So take a moment and pause and think about what really matters to you. What do you want to fight for, and fight for it. Don’t stop when you fail. Don’t stop when it gets hard. Fight with everything inside of you.
"So often in life, things that you regard as an impediment turn out to be great, good fortune." -Ruth Bader Ginsburg
Figure out what you want. Be all in, and don’t get stuck by what stands in your way. Do it for RBG.
