Harness the power of your voice

Your voice.

Cue Ariel in The Little Mermaid — where it all stops for me when she exchanges her voice for legs. WHAT!?

What do you exchange for your voice?

We all have times when we have felt silenced, mansplained, gaslit — oh the terminology for all the ways we feel silenced. Yes, that’s all true, but who gives a shit? Don’t let others silence you and do not believe that you deserve to feel silenced.

This week I’ve been reading: The Power of Voice by Denise Woods (a sought after vocal and dialect coach). I was inspired by this idea:

“As human beings, our power to communicate is our greatest gift. You have the ability to convey something much more profound than mere words; you have the ability to convey your essence. Your voice, speech, and gestures are a reflection of who you are, where you come from, and where you’d like to go, and that power is limitless.” page 9

Whether you are Simone Biles or Naomi Osaka and you use sport and your platform in front of a world stage to take a stand on mental health, or you stand up to your husband, or speak up in a meeting when you may feel uncomfortable. Whatever your fear is — speak up.

Where in your life could you use your greatest gift? Harness that power and let it roar.
