Do you ever notice how much noise and chatter is constantly going through your mind? Do you find it hard to find a moment to breathe and think clearly?
I have been there - I know what it is like. Often it is the politics at work and the drama and gossip that fills your day. Can you imagine what it would be like if you could live your days without all the chatter going through your mind? What if you just did not care anymore about what happened at that meeting (it is in the past now, right)? What if instead your focus was on this very moment and what you wanted to believe as you go into the next moment?
I believe the noise allows us to stay distracted and numb to our lives. Often we do not want to feel specific emotions (such as: why were we left out, why did they not listen, why did they not like my point of view) and instead of staying and feeling those emotions, we revisit and repeat what happened over and over in our mind.
What if we just looked at the noise and chatter as a story we are telling ourselves. What if that story was a way to make sense of the situations we are in daily? If it were just a story and we watched it happen, could we look at the story differently?
