This week as my son was out trick-or-treating I thought about all the masks I saw, and all the ones I didn't see.
A mask is an interesting thing.
Sometimes we see them and sometimes we don't.
Sometimes you can tell when another is performing, pretending, and hiding behind a mask.
Sometimes we cannot see the mask that others wear.
They can be invisible and we think the other person has it all figured out.
We put on masks to hide our fears, vulnerabilities, and our insecurities. We wear a mask when we think we aren't good or successful enough.
So we put on our masks to fit in, and to gain love and approval from others.
We play the part.
We hide.
We say yes to everyone, do it all, and in the end are not happy.
So let's take off our masks.
Each time we do, we show the world who we truly are -- as scary as it is to show our fears and be vulnerable, imagine how freeing it is to not hide anymore.
It may not be easy but it will create greater intimacy and connection.
I am here to help you take off your mask -- and together discover the you that wants to be mask free before the world chimed in.
